Andy Thurston has lived in Redbourn for the last 23 years with family who live locally. A doctor by training, he worked as a specialist urologist at Watford and St Albans. He continues to teach first year medical students in human anatomy. His career instilled in him the values of resilience, sacrifice, fairness and compassion, especially needed during the Covid pandemic and its wide impact on all walks of life.
As the local district councillor for Redbourn, he will strengthen the more inclusive politics that the Liberal Democrats offer, and continue to campaign to improve village life, supporting the many and varied voluntary organisations. He will strive to ensure better public transport serving the village, the provision of water fountains to reduce plastic waste, adoption of rewilding schemes and improving sport and leisure facilities. Also high on his agenda is addressing the wider issues of greenbelt infringement, road safety and provision of quality health and social care for Redbourners.
