District councillor Raj Visram has been active with local charities since moving to St Albans in 2007. Since being elected in May 2020, he has been involved in improving open spaces, safer roads and the post-pandemic regeneration of local businesses. He also works with other organisations to improve health and well-being in the area and increase training and employment opportunities. His interests include wine, cooking and, when possible, travel

Lorraine Kirby has lived in Marshalswick for 31 years and was inspired to become a local councillor by the community spirit shown in the area during lockdown. With a background in marketing communications and international trade, Lorraine has a special interest in local housing, green initiatives and culture. When she’s not working on helping Marshalswick and Jersey Farm be the best they can be, Lorraine can be found baking bread, travelling, and singing with a local community jazz band.

District councillor Raihaanah lives in Marshalswick with her husband and two children, and is a well-known local activist. She set up vaccination centres during COVID, founded the amazing St Albans Community Pantry which feeds thousands of residents today, and created the ‘Bread Buddies’ and ‘Cake Club’ schemes with her kids to give out baked goods on the doorstep.
Raihaanah is committed to diversity, community and sustainability, and works to ensure all residents get the support they need.

John Hale and his family have lived in Marshalswick for over 20 years. He has been a Sandridge Parish Councillor since 2007. Since 2017 he has been the county councillor for the area. When not acting as a councillor, John is active in the St Albans Quieter Skies campaign and has a keen interest in environmental issues. For relaxation he enjoys gardening in an organic manner.
