Liberal Democrat led District Council agree 35-year lease that will see the renovation of Batchwood Hall
In a Strategy and Resource meeting on the 20 November, the Liberal Democrat led District Council announced their newly agreed lease that will see the renovation of Batchwood Hall.
The District Council has agreed a 35-year lease with hospitality firm The Oakman Group for Batchwood’s redevelopment. The Oakman Group was chosen as the preferred operator after an open selection process last year.
Liberal Democrat County and District Councillor Chris White, said ‘’I’m pleased to see that Batchwood Hall is to be given a new lease of life as an upmarket restaurant and bar, alongside luxury hotel rooms and an events space.
‘’Batchwood has long stood in service to our local community. From an events space to a Covid Vaccination centre, it is very exciting to see Batchwood repurposed in the next stage of its life.’’
Officers have since been negotiating the terms of the lease. Oakman is set to invest millions of pounds in refurbishing the building which has been empty since the pandemic.
