Melvyn Teare has served as the District Councillor for Marshalswick South since June 2004. He has a strong record of getting things done for local people, having worked on a number of local issues, including protecting our environment, encouraging employment and the local economy, and supporting the voluntary sector.
Melvyn has lived in St Albans for over 34 years. He worked as St Albans City Centre Manager for four years prior to becoming a District Councillor in 2004. He is married to Heather and has two daughters and a granddaughter.
For the past ten years, Melvyn has been Chairman of the 'Computer Friendly' charity, which helps people from all backgrounds and of all ages to use computers. He is also the volunteer shop manager for St Albans District Scout Shop.
Melvyn regularly helps to organise major events,such as the annual Fireworks Display in Verulamium Park, for the Cathedral and Abbey Church of St Alban.
He wants to continue to work for Marshalswick South, celebrating the area's heritage while ensuring a sustainable future for the City and District.
