Allan Witherick has a long history of service in St Albans District, having started work here shortly after graduating from University College London. Working for the Police and the Council to help improve community safety in St Albans and the District, he stood for the County Council in 2005, taking the seat from Labour (he held the County Division in 2009 with an increased majority); he was elected to the District in 2008, and is seeking residents' support in these elections to continue working for the area.
Allan's local record of action ranges from organising litter picks and helping fund groups through to campaigning on local issues such as the possible re-location of The Pioneer and the aftermath of the fire at Batchwood Leisure Centre. From sorting out roads through to sitting on a school board, he has worked hard for you in the local area.
Outside of politics, Allan has helped galvanise the neighbours in his block of flats to build a garden and BBQ area (but is still waiting for summer!), as well as getting double glazing installed. He also likes to be involved in international organisations, and was recently made a Fellow of the United Nations Association of Civilisations.
Voting for him will help to ensure that Batchwood will keep an active councillor who works for the local area all year round.
